YOUNG HAMA

YOUNG HAMA is a Tokyo-based photographer whose work explores the raw intensity of human emotion. Describing violence as “another form of affection,” his photographs capture unfiltered moments ranging from Tokyo’s underground scene to the violent festivals of a fishing town in his native Nagasaki Prefecture. His photographs reveal the instinctive emotions that lie beneath everyday life. As part of his latest long-term project, he has become a tuna fisherman and is currently at sea on a distant-water fishing voyage.
