About Zine

Sorami Kawashima is an 18-year-old student who captures her daily life through photographs and videos, transforming them into her art. Her work is heavily influenced by films and music, and she aims for her creations to become part of the broader cultural scene.

"confusing you?" is her first zine, themed around her hometown.

"I used to dislike my hometown. It was noisy, dirty, and walking alone at night was terrifying. But I think what I really hated was not being able to love the place I had lived for 18 years. When I saw my hometown through the camera lens, I discovered aspects of it I had never noticed before. There were things I didn't want to capture, but there were also things that, once framed neatly, I could finally appreciate a little.

Realizing that my hometown was actually quite cool was a significant step for me. This zine helped me love the place I was born and the friends who live there."
